What is Image Vectorization (Tracing)?

Raster Pixels vs. Vector Paths

Raster images (PNG, JPEG, GIF) are grids of colored pixels. When upscaled, they lose sharpness and become blurry or pixelated. Vector graphics (SVG, EPS) use mathematical equations to represent coordinates and paths. They scale infinitely without losing quality, making them crucial for logos, digital icons, and typography.

Offline Silhouette Tracing

This utility scans the luminance value of every pixel on a canvas. Pixels below a threshold are grouped into contiguous horizontal runs, which are written as SVG <path> vectors.
